Legal Issues Day - For the Consumer and Private Citizen - 10/14/2006 from 10am-2pm
This event will be held at Metro Bank Community Center (map and more details coming soon on the APALSA website). This is the first in a two-part, day-long conference. This seminar will cover Hate Crimes, Consumer Rights, and Elder Law. Speakers will include practicing attorneys, legal academics, and representatives from governmental agencies. Dr. Mark Steiner will be speaking on Hate Crimes at Legal Issues Day. I encourage everyone to attend as this will be a great chance to learn about relevant legal issues while meeting attorneys working in the Houston area.

Constitution Day at STCL - 9/21, 2:30pm
Next Thursday, September 21st, STCL will be celebrating Constitution Day. A short film, featuring The Honorable Sandra Day O' Connor will be featured in the T. Gerald Treece Courtroom at 2:30pm. The film will be followed by a discussion lead by The Honorable Thomas M. Reavley, Dean James Alfini, and Professor Kathleen Bergin. See flyer here.

Come celebrate the end of another school year with APALSA at Hotel Derek. 7pm at 2525 West Loop South. Tickets are $30 per person, table of ten for $250. Tickets include valet parking, 2 drink tickets, dinner, dessert, and an evening of awards and dancing.
AABA CAREER NIGHT - Thursday 3/30/06 at 7:00pm
The Asian American Bar Association of Houston will be hosting "Career Night" at South Texas College of Law. The event will be in the Emilie Slohm room on the 6th floor of the Library. The event will include panel discussions from local attorneys on legal careers. In addition, the AABA will kick off their Mentor/Mentee program. All Houston area Asian-American law students are welcome.
